About this site
This site exists to explain the Christian faith clearly and to help anyone who wants to become a Christian take the first steps.
Who it is for
Become a Christian is written for people who are curious about Christianity, people who are thinking about becoming Christians, and people who have just started out. You don’t need any background knowledge. Wherever the site uses a word that churches tend to take for granted, it tries to explain it.
What it teaches
The site aims to keep to the core beliefs that Christians of every major tradition have held in common, as summarised in the Apostles’ Creed: that there is one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again; and that forgiveness and eternal life are God’s gift to all who trust in him. Where churches differ, for example over how baptism is practised, the site says so.
Bible quotations
Quotations from the Bible are taken from the World English Bible, a modern translation that is in the public domain. When you read the Bible for yourself, any mainstream modern translation will serve you well.
Where to go from here
A website can only do so much. If you want to explore further, the best thing you can do is talk to Christians in person. The next steps page explains how to find a church or a course near you.
